General:

Welcome to the first annual Valley Branch Sports + Music Festival – over the weekend of August 26th & 27th, 2005.  Our vision is a long-term, annual festival in the heart of Brown County (directly east of Brown County State Park – Nashville, Indiana) that encompasses a mixture of various musical performances, sporting activities and various cultural outdoor events.  Valley Branch Retreat http://www.valleybranchretreat.net rests on 500 secluded acres that has virtually been untouched by the general public, while being home to a very low-key hiking, mountain biking and paintball scene.  If you’ve heard of Paintball Valley… this is the place.

Valley Branch Retreat and the Columbus Entertainment & Events Network, Inc. not-for-profit have teamed up to bring you the best in regional music and Midwest outdoor adventure.  Unlike some of the larger festivals, we have chosen a more intimate approach for this premier Indiana festival.

Layout & Amenities:

The 500 acre site also has an in-door lodge dubbed “Harvest Hall”, so RAIN WILL NOT MAKE OR BREAK THIS FESTIVAL!  There are rental cabins, electric & water hook-up sites, as well as primitive camping sites.  Facilities include plenty of immaculate restrooms with showers and indoor recreational space.  There is a game area with video games and all the indoor fun associated with summer camp.

Wood will be sold as most sites have fire rings (please see General Rules section for discussion about fire wood).  Vending will include arts, entertainer merchandise, food, ice, water, sodas, wood, sporting equipment rental and a few other key essential.  Feel free to bring your own food, water, ice, drinks and equipment.  See General Rules section before packing.

Valley Branch Retreat also contains a clean, stocked lake near the back of the camping area with canoe, tube and row boat rental.

Additional charges may apply for premium camping sites, cabin rental & extra curricular activities such as sporting events, equipment rental, etc.  Children 10 and under free.

General Rules:

Violation to the general rules of the festival may result in immediate expulsion from the grounds.

1.  Event scheduled rain or shine.  No refunds will be issued.  Provisions have been made so that rain will not be an issue for the performance.

2.  No outside firewood will be allowed on the property!  This request comes from the Department of Natural Resources due to recent reports of dangerous foreign insects and contamination.  See www.entm.purdue.edu/EAB for more information.

3.  No glass bottles will be permitted on the property.

4.  No unauthorized food, water or other beverage vending.  If you are interested in slinging your goods, call Valley Branch Retreat at 812.988.7750 for more information.

5.  No pets allowed on site.  Fighting and biting dogs make for a pour festival experience.  Even the kindest dog can turn evil in crowded area.  Don’t bring your pets.

6.  No fireworks.

7.  No illegal activities permitted.  Have fun, but obey applicable local, state and federal laws.

8.  Trash bags with a different color will be provided for all sites and at the General Store.  Please place recyclables in the designated bag and all other trash in the other.

9.  No motorized vehicles permitted.  This includes, but is not limited to, ATVs, motor scooters, powered skateboards or 4-wheelers.  We encourage the use of bicycles and your legs.

10.  Quiet hours will be between midnight and 7am.  Harvest Hall will remain open virtually all night, so please respect others that are trying to rest.

Suggestions in preparing for the festival:

The Valley Branch Sports + Music Festival will be a weekend full of great activities, events, entertainment, work shops and competition.  We encourage you to bring your friends and family.  Bring your kids too!  We encourage you to purchase a ticket for the entire weekend, leave your cares behind and relax as much as you can.

In preparation for the weekend’s event, may we recommend the following items as a part of your packing list:

Rain gear, extra pairs of shoes, hiking boots, bug spray, lawn chairs, a blanket or two, sunscreen, a hat, a container for water, flashlight with batteries, a camera, swim trunks, tent, sleeping bag, jacket or hooded sweat shirt, musical instruments, cash for buying goodies and your good vibes!

Nearly all of the activities will be included in the price of admission.  There will be craft and art vending, special sporting events and rentals, food, drinks, ice, merchandise, firewood sold onsite.  The nearest ATM machine is 20 minutes away, so plan accordingly.
